"World of Stone" by Blackmore's Night from The Village Lanterne

"On our own… In a world of stone… We are not alone…"

The battle is coming, the narrator says when she calls for her arrows and crossbow, for she fears she'll need them before the night's over. They've lost much, but they will keep their spirit, and "Together [they] will win!" (See the lyrics on the band's site.)

The medieval-esque style music would've suited the battle of Helm's Deep in The Fellowship of the Ring: The Two Towers movie. (Um, that's the major fight where the evil wizard sends the monster orcs to attack Princess Eowyn's people.) "World of Stone" sounds majestic and epic and captures the desperate hope of the fighters.

It sounds like acoustic drums and harp, among other instruments. The song flows, melodic, with the bulk of the music outpacing the beat per second. It also seems to have that minor key tonality that some folks find depressing and some relaxing. It's still a perfect blend of instruments, which I recommend.

Candice Night's voice also perfectly fits the rest of "World of Stone". It echoes slightly and holds to mostly the same tempo as the beat, accenting to the majestic feel of the music. Candice's mature vocals soothe even while they express the command and anger and determination of the song's narrator.

Overall, everything about this song sounds unique and magnificently done. If you've never heard folk rock, this is a fantastic example of the genre.
