"Butterfly" by Smile.dk from Smile

"Ah—I—ee—I, I'm your little butterfly: blue, black and green, making colors in the sky."

Yes, the song's rather cutesy and silly, but that's characteristic of "bubblegum" music that sounds sugary and childish. The "dance" in Smile.dk's bubblegum dance genre of music comes from an electronica sound of music. "Butterfly" has become particularly popular due to its inclusion with the Dance Dance Revolution video game.

Okay, so electronica is pretty uniform throughout the song, but Swedish-born and Danish-marketed "Butterfly" by Smile.dk manages to give parts of the song its own distinct feel. I'll be nice.

Swedish singers Veronica Larsson and Nina Boquist add to that cutesy pop-electronica sound with their high-pitched, somewhat nasal singing that I can only describe as "cutesy". That description can also be applied to some of the lyrics that have bad grammar: "I waits for samurai".

As far as the song "story", the singers are pretending to be butterflies looking for their knights in shining armor—in the form of samurai. Um… whatever. At least it's suitable for children.

It's a cute song for the sound and can help speed you up while working on something, but meaning really isn't there…
