"Wait" by Storyline from What You Do to Me

"I will wait for you right here…" the song's narrator says of the one she loves in this ballad about missing the one you love.

Now, Storyline is a young enough female-fronted pop/rock band that information about them is fairly hard to find. (I couldn't even find a Wikipedia page.) I did find that they compare themselves to folks like Kelly Clarkson and All American Rejects.

"Wait" is a standard simplistic piano ballad in music. The piano part has a definite rock feel to it, but it's pretty and still suits the ballad. There's some other instrumentation in there, especially towards the end, but it's all well-blended and none of it feels like the band was trying too hard.

The band's singer, Ashley Morgan, takes center stage with her voice. It's strong and clear, without losing the delicacy of the subject. It's a soothing alto that makes me think Mariah Carey adjusted to suit this song style.

The narrator of "Wait" is sad about being separated from the one she loves, and a tad fearful that he won't come back, but she's mostly hopeful, looking forward to reunion when he comes back. The narrator insists she'll wait for the one she loves, and the song implies that she'll wait however long it takes.

Overall, if you like piano or rock ballads, you'll likely enjoy this. Otherwise, I suspect you'll find it okay as long as you don't outright hate piano and rock ballads.
